Special Stitches
Puff Stitch- Yarn over, insert hook into specified stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop (3 loops on hook). Repeat 2 times. There should be 7 loops on your hook. Yarn over and pull through 7 loops. Puff stitch complete.
Puff Shell- Place the following into one stitch: puff stitch (instructions above), ch1, puff st, ch1, puff st. Puff shell complete, counts as 5 stitches or 1 puff shell.
The Pattern
ch a multiple of 6 plus 3
Row 1 (RS) hdc in the 3rd ch from hook, *sk the next 2 sts, puff shell (5sts), sk the next 2 sts, hdc in the next st, repeat from * to the end of the row, turn
Row 2 (WS) ch2 (does not count as a stitch here and throughout), puff/ch1/puff in the first st, *sk the next 2 sts, hdc in the next st, sk the next 2 sts, puff shell in the next st, repeat from * to the last st, puff/ch1/puff in the last st, turn
Row 3 (RS) ch2, hdc in the first st, *sk the next 2 sts, puff shell in the next st, sk the next 2sts, hdc in the next st, repeat from * to the end of the row, turn
Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until you have completed your desired length.
