Mini Moule Booties- Free Crochet Pattern

August 11, 2021

The Mini Moule Bootie is the perfect baby bootie. With the adorable buttons and flaps, it will be perfect for baby’s first photo shoot. When it no longer fits, why not make it a Christmas Tree decoration to enjoy for years to come? The Mini Moule Bootie is worked in one piece from the sole up. It is worked in rounds to the top of the foot, and then in rows for the ankle wrap. In this pattern the slip stitch to join does not count as a stitch, so remember not to work into it on the next round. The button is to be sewn onto the 3hdc side of the wrap, using a hole within the puff pattern on the flap as a button hole. If you would like to purchase the ad free pdf pattern, you can get your copy below.

The Mini Moule Booties have been a special collaborative project between myself and the super talented Christina from One Loop Crochet. I have never made a crochet bootie, let alone designed one! When Christina offered to contribute a bootie pattern to the Mini Moule Collection I was ecstatic! Christina is my crochet confidant and tech editor. She makes my life so much easier and is unbelievably talented. You can find her

This baby collection has been in the works for such a long time and I cannot believe I am finally ready to show the world. I had the idea to make a gender neutral baby collection about a year and a half ago. It can be difficult to find beautiful pieces of crochet garments that little boys and girls can wear so I decided to design my own. I had grand plans to make these into kits and I may do it someday but for now, you can make these beautiful garments from my very detailed and easy to follow patterns.

Materials

*3.5mm hook (U.S. E-4)) crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge
*I used Sirdar Cashmere Merino Silk DK. If you purchase from this link, I will earn a small commission and can continue creating my patterns. Your support means the world to me! See chart below for approximately how much yarn you will need.
NOTE This yarn is closer to a sport/4ply yarn. If you are not using the suggested yarn, I would definitely choose a lighter weight yarn than DK to get the correct gauge.
*2 buttons (1cm/0.5in)

Yarn Substitution

A very important note about using a different yarn than recommended for these patterns is that it works up much smaller than an average DK/ Lightweight Number 3 yarn. During testing, my amazing testers noticed that by using a sportweight/4ply yarn, they were able to get the correct gauge. If you are not using the suggested yarn, I would definitely go for a lighter weight yarn than DK. I would suggest:

Paintbox Yarns Cotton 4 ply
Debbie Bliss Rialto 4 Ply

Sole (make 2)
The sole is worked into both sides of the starting chain. It is worked in rounds, do NOT turn after the join. The side of the stitches that face you as you work them are the right side of the fabric, even if the bootie tends to shape itself inside out, it is easy to pop it back the right way around after you are finished stitching.
