Crochet Alice Dress – Beautiful Handmade Dress for Children

To being, I absolutely love working with Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK (affiliate link). When I came across the dreamy shade Duck Egg Blue, I was instantly reminded of Alice in Wonderland’s iconic dress — and that spark of inspiration became the Alice Dress.
I wanted to design something timeless but still practical for everyday wear. Worked from the top down with simple stitches, the Alice Dress is easy to make and full of thoughtful details like lace edging, a Peter Pan collar, and a sweet sash for tying a bow.

The Yarn

For this design I used Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK in Duck Egg Blue and Champagne White. It’s a soft, breathable cotton that’s gentle on skin and comes in a huge range of shades. Cotton yarn gives the Alice Dress its structure while still keeping it light and comfortable — perfect for children’s clothing.
You can find the yarn here:

Other materials you’ll need:
• 4.0 mm crochet hook (or size needed to meet gauge)
• Buttons (2–4 depending on size)
• Tapestry needle & stitch markers

The Design

The Alice Dress is worked top down in a raglan style. The yoke uses double crochet and half double crochet stitches, with raglan increases marked as you go to keep everything easy to follow.
After the sleeves are separated to form armholes, the body continues in a simple rhythm of granny stitches and V-stitches. The skirt can be worked to your desired length, finished with a lace edging that gives it that heirloom look.
Finally, the finishing touches are what make this dress special: a Peter Pan–style collar, lace trim at the sleeves, and a sash that ties neatly around the waist. It’s a sweet, classic silhouette with just the right amount of storybook charm.

This is a premium pattern because it also includes a video tutorial for every step along the way.
The dress has a little positive ease built in, giving it a comfortable fit and room to move.
