18 Crochet Dress Patterns for Babies & Children

When I first started designing crochet patterns, I wanted to create pieces that felt timeless. Garments that could be loved today and tucked away as keepsakes for tomorrow. There’s something so special about making a dress by hand, knowing it might be worn for a birthday, a family gathering, a holiday, or simply a sunny afternoon spent making memories.
Over the years, I’ve designed dresses in all sorts of styles, from sweet everyday designs to delicate, heirloom-inspired pieces with beautiful textures and thoughtful details. Some are simple and relaxing to crochet, while others offer a little more of a challenge for those who enjoy trying new techniques. No matter which one you choose, each pattern has been created with comfort, wear ability, and timeless style in mind.
In this collection, I’ve gathered 18 of my favorite crochet dress patterns for babies and children, including two free patterns to help you get started. Whether you’re looking for something light and playful, elegant and classic, or perfect for a special occasion, I hope you’ll find a design that inspires your next project.
I truly believe that the most treasured handmade pieces aren’t always the most complicated; they’re the ones made with love. I hope these dresses bring you as much joy to crochet as they have brought me to design, and that each one becomes part of someone’s special memories for years to come. Happy crocheting!

Doli Dress (Free)
The Doli Dress holds a special place in my heart because it was one of my very first dress designs, and it has remained a favorite with crocheters ever since. Named after the beautiful coastal village of Doli in Croatia, where some of the original photos were taken, this dress captures the simple, timeless style that I love creating.
Designed with beginners in mind, the Doli Dress uses simple stitches such as half double crochet, double crochet, and chains, making it a wonderfully relaxing project. It’s worked top-down in a raglan construction, so you can enjoy watching the dress grow without any complicated seaming. Once you’ve separated the sleeves, the repetitive rows become the perfect crochet companion for a cozy evening on the sofa.

Flower Child Dress
The Flower Child Dress captures the carefree spirit of childhood with its vintage-inspired silhouette, stretchy waistband, delicate ruffled straps, and twirl-worthy skirt. Designed to be both beautiful and practical, the adjustable cross-back straps provide a comfortable fit as little ones grow. At the same time, the mostly seamless construction makes it an enjoyable project to crochet.

Tessa Dress
The Tessa Dress is one of those designs that feels effortlessly elegant. I wanted to create a dress with beautiful texture and timeless details, while keeping the construction simple enough for crocheters to enjoy making it truly. Worked from the top down in a classic lemon peel stitch, the fabric has a lovely woven appearance that looks stunning in both soft neutrals and vibrant colors.

Josephine Dress
The Josephine Dress is one of those designs that feels like it could be passed down from one generation to the next. I wanted to create a dress with a truly timeless look, one that combines beautiful texture with a relaxing crochet experience. Worked from the top down, the bodice features half double crochet and my varied puff stitch. At the same time, the skirt flows into a gorgeous five double crochet shell pattern that’s easy to memorize, making it the perfect project to enjoy alongside your favorite audio book or evening show.
Available in sizes from 0–6 months through 10–12 years, the Josephine Dress is designed to become a cherished handmade keepsake. It’s a pattern that’s both enjoyable to make and beautiful to gift, one I hope will be loved, worn, and perhaps even handed down for years to come.

Alice Dress
The Alice Dress was inspired by a beautiful skein of duck-egg-blue cotton yarn that instantly reminded me of Alice in Wonderland. From that moment, I knew I wanted to create a dress that felt whimsical, elegant, and timeless; something that looked like it belonged at a garden tea party or an afternoon spent chasing butterflies.
Worked from the top down in one seamless piece, the Alice Dress features a classic raglan yoke with a combination of simple stitches that create gorgeous texture throughout the bodice and skirt. Delicate lace edging, a sweet Peter Pan collar, and an optional waist sash complete the design, giving it a vintage-inspired look that’s both charming and wearable. Even though the finished dress looks beautifully detailed, the construction is straightforward, making it an enjoyable project from beginning to end.
Available in sizes from 0–6 months to 10–12 years.

Marion Dress
The Marion Dress is one of my most romantic designs, inspired by the image of little flower girls walking down the aisle in timeless handmade dresses. From the very beginning, I envisioned delicate lace, soft cotton yarn, and an heirloom-quality garment that could be treasured for life’s most meaningful moments. It’s also a beautiful choice for christenings or baptisms, and if you’d like a longer gown, the skirt can easily be extended to create an even more elegant look.
Worked from the top down in a raglan construction, the Marion Dress uses only simple stitches: single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, and chains to create a stunning two-row repeating shell lace pattern. While the stitches themselves are straightforward, the lace construction makes this a wonderfully rewarding project for intermediate crocheters ready to build their confidence in garment making.
Available in sizes from 0–3 months through 10–12 years

Delphine Dress
The Delphine Dress is one of those designs that took time to become exactly what I envisioned. After a few redesigns, plenty of frogging, and a lot of thoughtful tweaking, it finally came together into a dress that feels delicate, timeless, and full of soft feminine details. From the sweet puff sleeves to the gently gathered ruffled skirt and classic button closure, every element was chosen to create a piece that feels just as special to make as it is to wear.
Worked from the top down with a raglan yoke, the Delphine Dress features alternating half double crochet and varied puff stitches that add beautiful texture without being overly complicated. One of my favorite details is that the dress is completely reversible, allowing you to wear the buttons at either the front or the back depending on the look you prefer.
Available in sizes from 0–6 months through 10–12 years, the Delphine Dress is perfect for christenings, birthdays, family celebrations, or simply creating a beautiful heirloom piece to treasure.

Ophelia Dress
The Ophelia Dress is one of the patterns I recommend most often to crocheters who are ready to make their very first garment. I wanted to design a dress that looked beautifully polished without feeling overwhelming to create. Available in sizes from 0–6 months through 10–12 years, the Ophelia Dress is perfect for birthdays, family gatherings, holidays, or simply creating a timeless handmade wardrobe staple. It’s one of those patterns that reminds you beautiful garments don’t have to be complicated: they need thoughtful design and a little love stitched into every row.

Belle Dress
